Highlight of the Summer

With yet another summer coming to a close, although technically, it doesn't end until the first official day of autumn later next month, so maybe with another summer vacation coming to a close, let's ask ourselves. What was the highlight of it all? What was the best thing about it? In case my answer's not obvious by now, it was the 1-hour special episode of Phineas and Ferb, "Summer Belongs To You"! It was definitely worth the wait! Now to wait for something even longer... the day the show will finally surpass Spongebob Squarepants, Nickelodeon's highest-rated TV show. That's the real challenge, isn't it? But Phineas and his friends have what it takes to expose Spongebob and his marine moron Patrick Star as the nautical nimrods they always have been. Yeah, I insult them now, so what are all you Spongebob lovers gonna do about it? Besides, Phineas even makes a reference to their uselessness in the 1-hour special by digging up a yellow-colored kitchen sponge and a starfish, stating the ridiculousness of making something useful with them, although he was half insane at the time. And of course, there's the one thing I'm hoping for, along with many other fans I'm sure... an official hookup between Phineas and Isabella, my favorite fictional couple of all time! Hopefully it will happen, so we just have to believe!

I believe!

Wishing the Year Away

*sigh* The world of fiction seems to be running slowly nowadays. Phineas and Ferb still has no set date for the end of Season 2, despite its finale episode having aired already. The world of Pokémon is also at a slow pace, with things being revealed only bit by bit and waiting for at least a couple more months before the fifth-generation games get released in Japan. Still no word from what's next in the Kingdom Hearts saga, as the 3DS game has barely revealed much while Kingdom Hearts III is still on hold. Even Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is going nowhere fast. The problem is that wishing for all this great stuff to come to us, it's like wishing the year away and then once a new year begins, the next thing I know, it's halfway over, like Halloween and Christmas is coming in the blink of an eye. Everything's over before our eyes! That was what happened with 2009. I expected greatness within that year and it was over before I knew it. And now I fear the same thing is happening with this year and it could easily in 2011. So, we gotta ask ourselves... seriously... is all this really worth the wait?

Synchro Gods

The Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Trading Card Game and the anime series have introduced us to unique legendary cards that prove their power to be like no other. First, there were the three Egyptian Gods, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra. Then, in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, the three Sacred Beasts were introduced and based on their appearances, said to be equivalents to the Egyptian Gods. The Sacred Beast cards actually held the honors of being playable "God" cards first. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, the Wicked Gods came along and in the card game, they were made into Dark attribute monsters in order to be legal playable cards. In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, the equivalents seemed to be the terrifying Earthbound Immortals, but there were seven as opposed to the traditional three, so it didn't seem to be the case. As for the Egyptian God cards, their original versions are considered illegal, but now they are being remade into playable cards and appropriately enough, have had their abilities toned down in order to be legit. So what are the new "God" cards for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's? Well, here's the answer. They are currently called "Polar Gods" in Japanese and there are three of them, named after the Norse gods. Like the Egyptian Gods, they are also exclusive in that they are Divine attribute monsters, but this time, they are all Synchro Monsters, and to be summoned, they currently require a Tuner Monster and two non-Tuner monsters, sticking to the rule of sacrificing three monsters on the field. They seem to be overly powerful and now they are planned to be released in Japan's newest upcoming booster pack, Storm of Ragnarok. And you can be assured that they'll be toned down quite heavily. But still, what awesome power they possess...

Summer Belongs To Phineas and Ferb!

WARNING! SPOILERS! This post contains spoilers regarding the 1-hour special episode of Phineas and Ferb, "Summer Belongs To You". View at your own risk, or try not to look for that matter, if you wish to see the episode and find out for yourself what happens.

With the 1-hour special of Phineas and Ferb having come and gone, high-rated reviews as expected have come pouring in. So just you wait, Spongebob Squarepants! This show's gonna beat you out yet! Besides, who wants to keep watching a show full of idiots, money-grabbers, and cynics anyway? This show's way better, fans! And it looks like the episode packed a few hidden surprises Dan and Swampy kept from us. Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet all successfully traveled around the world in a single day arriving not a moment too late back in the Flynn-Fletcher backyard where they started. Of course, there were a few unexpected mishaps, snags, and twists along the way. One thing noticeable about this episode is that it seems to improve the relationship between Phineas and Isabella. And the puzzling irony is that while Isabella was devoid of Phineas giving her attention in Paris, they dance together in the final musical number, holding hands as well, while Phineas gives Isabella loads of attention. Maybe he was just happy that she got him back on his feet when he was feeling down and he managed to accomplish his biggest task ever.

But the biggest surprise of all is the significant improvement in Candace and Jeremy's relationship, the show's most anticipated pairing. That's right, fans! Your eyes are not deceiving you nor is this image false. Candace and Jeremy share their first kiss ever. THIS is the episode plot where Candace and Jeremy are officially boyfriend and girlfriend. They even say it, so it's official. It was originally supposed to happen somewhere in Season 3, so it certainly must have surprised Candace and Jeremy fans that Dan and Swampy decided to toss this in a little early. Also, many fans are agreeing that this episode marks the Season 2 finale, despite not all the episodes having aired yet. This television show is far from finished and it has the potent of beating out even the best shows from other networks, including Nickelodeon's Spongebob Squarepants. So what's taking so long?

Candace Times Two!

As if dealing with Candace and her own crazy antics of the futility of busting her younger brothers, Phineas and Ferb, is maddening enough, in another episode that hasn't yet aired here on Disney Channel and Disney XD in the United States, Candace falls victim to a molecular divider the stepbrothers' built and is split in two! Like in most fictional series that revolve around incidents, Candace's alter egos have whole sides of separate personalities. That is to say, one side is completely focused on her love for Jeremy and one side is twisted and hell-bent on busting her brothers. If you thought Candace was crazy then, in this episode her bust-personality is completely mad and insane! And her sweet side really isn't any better because she disturbs Jeremy during his shift and before Jeremy agrees to kiss her as a token of remembrance, the mad Candace intervenes and pulls her away at the last minute!

And here's a screen shot of Candace who has now somehow become split into thirteen beings! How in the hell will this ever get settled? We'll have to find out should the episode ever make it here. There isn't a doubt, but what's taking so long?
